The Nikita String Quartet's Broad Roots
As individuals and as a group, we revel in the breadth of our backgrounds and the ways that can inform every performance. Each member is classically trained, but also well versed in other schools and traditions of music. Whether we're rocking a big stage or playing an intimate acoustic event, you'll find us appearing all around the San Francisco Bay Area. We seek not only to tackle the monumental literature of the string quartet world, but to think about other types of music and how they can be re-imagined for a string quartet.

We are available for events large and small, from weddings in the redwoods to mother's day brunch, from live performances to studio recordings. You may even find us busking on a street near you, just for the joy of playing for our community!

Hannah Glass, Violin
Disney Princess
.jpg)
Hannah is a master of both viola and violin, and has the voice of a Disney princess as well. With a background in Baroque and Tango, she is equally at home on a period instrument or on a rock and roll stage. She plays with Your Fearless Leader, Manos Lindas, and many others.
Laela Peterson-Stolen, Viola
Instigator

Laela is in the small minority that think the viola is superior, even though she plays violin in both a country band (Urban Outlaws) and an Eastern European rock outfit (Junk Parlor). She hopes to someday run a rescue facility for giraffes.

Life of the Pa(r)ty

A versatile performer, Patty Jo is grounded in classical but addicted to modern musical genres. Whether improvising with local singer-songwriters or performing with musical theatre, she loves to lay down sweet, low sounds. You will often find her sporting a silly hat or wig because fun is a calling.
